Acting4Dementia Program

$550.00

This class consists of two 90-min classes, given one week apart.

The program is designed for a senior participant + a support person (if available).

Any acting homework is done by participants the week between the first and the last class.

There’s no marking. No failing.

It’s all about exercising the cognitive brain functions but using acting and having fun!

Session 1: Duration 90 mins

Each couple comprises a participant accompanied by a support person. 

1. Session introduction by Instructor. 

2. Breaking the ice.

3. Group introductions.

4. You’re here to learn Acting4Dementia, but more importantly, to have fun.

5. Explaining the Meisner repetition acting technique. 

6. Every pair does the repetition acting technique. 

7. Group evaluation and feedback to one another.

8. Instructor evaluation and feedback based on verbal accuracy, emotions, and gestures. 

9. Explanation of evaluations.  

10. Group does the repetition acting exercise again.

11. Homework assignment (Samuel Beckett’s Ohio Impromptu: text, with YouTube link, is given to

participants).

12. Reminder to meet in one week for Session 2.

Session 2: Duration 90 mins

1. How was your homework? Report from each couple.

2. Repetition acting exercise with humour.

3. Group evaluation among participants. 

4. Instructor evaluation: on concentration, sense of humour, comparing humour between each couple and other participants.

5. A second round of the repetition acting exercise with humour.

6. Concluding remarks.

7. Participants are thanked and asked to fill in and return the online evaluation form.
